Welcome, I am so glad you found your way here. Take a deep breath, you are in safe hands now.

Feeling uncertain about starting your therapeutic journey is completely natural, yet choosing to reach out is a powerful act of self-kindness. Life often brings heavy seasons that leave us feeling drained, stuck, or distant from those we care about.

Whether you are processing the waves of a recent loss, navigating a difficult relationship, or feeling the weight of constant stress, you truly do not have to endure this alone. My online practice provides a gentle, secure sanctuary where you can speak openly, feel deeply understood, and begin to rediscover your strength and balance.

My Story

Hello, I’m Jo.

I believe that everyone deserves a safe, compassionate space where they can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment.

My path to becoming a counselor was shaped by walking through life's unexpected storms. Experiencing the heavy, isolating layers of postnatal depression, the devastating loss of both my parents, and later navigating the painful breakdown of my marriage showed me firsthand just how vital professional support is when you are at your most vulnerable.

These profound life experiences didn't just teach me resilience; they reinforced the deep importance of empathy, genuine human connection, and the immense value of simply being present for someone when their world feels heavy. It was this deep calling to care for others that led me to transition into psychotherapy after a beautiful 30-year career as a florist. Just as I spent decades nurturing growth in nature, I am now dedicated to nurturing healing and growth in people.

Today, I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore whatever is on your mind, entirely at your own pace. My hope is that you'll leave each session feeling truly heard, deeply understood, and empowered to move toward the life you want to live.

Outside of my practice, my greatest achievements are my two wonderful young adults. I also share my home with my Sprocker Spaniel, Ollie, who reminds me every day of the quiet joy of being outdoors and the simple value of living in the moment

Your First Session

Creating a Safe Foundation

Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a warm, relaxed and non-judgemental environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

Transparency & Trust

We will go through and sign the counselling contract together. This explains important information such as confidentiality, session boundaries, and data protection, ensuring you feel informed and comfortable before we begin.

Exploration & Understanding

We will talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain. There is no pressure to share everything straight away, we will go at a pace that feels right for you as we gain a better understanding of you as a whole person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need counselling?

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, experiencing relationship difficulties, grief, low self-esteem, or simply wanting to understand yourself better. If something is affecting your wellbeing, counselling can help.

What happens in the first session?

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. We'll discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you hope to achieve, and answer any questions you may have. I'll also explain confidentiality, complete some initial paperwork, and together we'll decide whether we're the right fit to work together.

I've never had counselling before. Will it be awkward?

Many people feel nervous before their first session, and that's completely understandable. You don't need to know what to say or where to begin. We'll go at your pace, and I'll gently guide the conversation.

How many sessions will I need?

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Some people benefit from a few sessions focused on a particular issue, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and experiences. We'll regularly review your progress together.

How do online sessions via Google Meet work?

All of my counselling sessions take place online via Google Meet. Before your appointment, I’ll email you a secure link to join from your computer, tablet or phone. You don’t need a special account – just a quiet, private space and a stable internet connection. If you’re unsure about the tech, I’m happy to talk you through it beforehand so you can feel as comfortable as possible.

Taking the first step can feel like the hardest part.
If you've been thinking about counselling but aren't sure where to begin, you're not alone. Many people feel nervous before reaching out. Whether you're ready to book a session or simply have a question, I'm here to help.
